Membership

Joining our orchestra couldn’t be easier! You can join in just 3 simple steps.

1) Contact us in any of the ways shown on our 'Contact Us' page to let us know you are interested in joining. We will have a chat with you and let you know when is best for you to come along to the orchestra.

2) Come along to the orchestra and see how you like it. You get 3 weeks to see how you like it with no obligation to join; you won’t have to pay any fees until you decide that you like the orchestra! In this time you will have the opportunity to play a variety of music and meet our M.D. Ian who will have a chat with you about the orchestra and music.

3) When you decide the orchestra is for you, you will be asked to fill in a membership form by a member of our committee and will be given a BDYO t-shirt to wear at concerts! You will probably be asked to pay a proportion of the normal fee's to cover the rest of that term.

Our orchestra relies upon donations and membership fees to function. Because of this we ask for each member to pay £20 per term (three terms per year). These fees go towards purchasing music, instruments, venue hire, refreshments and all other outgoings the orchestra has. For more information, please feel free to contact us. Members who are unable to provide this fee may be eligible for help. For more information contact us in confidence.

We have various instruments available to loan. Any member of BDYO is entitled to free instrument loan for a minimum period of 6 months. Loans may and often run longer than 6 months however, the loan is not guaranteed after this period of time. Although our instruments are insured, members families are required to ensure their own personal home insurance is aware of the instrument and that it is covered on their policy.
